What is dental bonding?
Dental bonding is a simple cosmetic treatment that involves bonding a durable material directly to the surface of your tooth in order to make minor corrections and give you a reason to smile again. Dr. Moody is able to use teeth bonding in Anchorage, Alaska, to repair breaks, close gaps, and change the size, shape, and color of a tooth.
What is composite resin?
Composite resin is our dental bonding material of choice at Alaska Dental Arts. It is a durable mixture mainly comprised of plastic alloys. With composite resin, our dentist is either able to match the shade of composite resin to your natural tooth color or pick a shade that is lighter if we will be treating discoloration. Although composite resin is not as strong as your natural tooth enamel, it can last for many years while looking beautiful.
How is dental bonding done?
Dental bonding is completed as we sculpt composite resin directly to the tooth after it has been prepared. Preparation generally includes cleaning the tooth and lightly etching the surface to form a stronger bond. Once the composite resin has been perfectly sculpted to form your new tooth, we will harden it with a special light and then polish the tooth for a natural shine. It generally only takes one visit to our dental office to complete dental bonding. If there are changes you would like to make to your smile, we invite you to call our office today to learn more.
